Procurement Category Manager

For one of our clients we are looking for a Procurement Category Manager – Airport & Ground Operations.

Main Objectives:

  • Reduce and control airport and operational costs to meet company cost targets
  • Manage portfolio of vendors including contracting and SRM & engagement
  • Collaborate across departments with focus on process improvement to deliver the company strategy.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the company’s sustainability strategic targets.
  • Ensure contracts fulfil operationnal and commercial requirements.
  • Other ad hoc duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature and responsibilities of the role.
  • Develop expertise on local setups, challenges, and opportunities within the assigned portfolio.

KPI’s for role

  • Support the delivery of the category strategy.
  • Reduce overall cost and improve cost predictability.
  • Deliver the sourcing and category plan.
  • Manage sourcing projects and deliver project objectives including agreed savings targets.
  • Ensure that the overall company’s ESG KPls are considered in all procurement activity.
  • Contribute to the development of the procurement function and its promotion within the organisation.
  • Bespoke cross functional project (to be defined)

Area of Responsibility

  • Contribute to the Company’s cost reduction program target for the category through strategic and tactical sourcing and contracting.
  • Manage a portfolio of airports for airport incentives, ground handling and cargo handling.
  • Define and deliver engagement plans with key partners.
  • Source all contracts and lead negotiations.
  • Ensure company compliance rules and best practice are adhered to.
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors, understand contractual requirements and business strategies to negotiate and influence effectively at different levels.
  • Input into the Airports and Operations Procurement team sourcing planning and implement plans to ensure best value for volume and specification.
  • Drive collaboration and engagement with key colleagues to develop processes and best practice.
  • Work closely with Finance Controlling to monitor costs Input in budget preparation and forecast revisions. Monitor and address variances.
  • Training/ mentoring Junior team members and Operational Procurement Specialists as required.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Promote procurement across categories.
  • Other ad hoc duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature and responsibilities of the role.

Competence profile (ideal) with required education/certificates/licenses:

  • Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in airlines procurement, preferably specialized in ground ops and/ or airports.
  • Strong negotiation skills and commercial acumen. Strategic mindset.
  • Proven ability to manage high value complex negotiations.
  • Ability to develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at different levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously, proactively and on multiple tasks.
  • Organizational skill and ability to prioritize a high workload effectively.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a changing environment, by inputting and participating actively in the required changes.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as a team and on own initiative.
  • Higher educational level.
  • Numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written English.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a multi-site/location and multi-cultural environment.

Workplace: Fornebu, Riga, Barcelona.

Period: 9-12 months
