Work Management Specialist

Role:
The Work Management (WM) SME will join the North Sea Norway Backbone program as the person responsible for working with key Regional WM stakeholders and under the direction of the WM Process Lead/Owner to define the end to end WM process requirements of the North Sea Region. Working with the Global design team to ensure the integrity of the WM process global design is maintained and leading the deployment of the new WM processes within the Region. The role will define and maintain design; training & coaching materials required in the WM area and be responsible for working with delivery teams to achieve process update and results. End to end process for WM includes integrating of internal functions and external stakeholders in support of the Region’s day to day business.

As a result of extensive growth through mergers and acquisitions, the Company operates with numerous processes and disparate systems that have not been streamlined, resulting in increased complexity, inefficiencies and added costs to support. In 2007, E&P embarked on a major effort to address this through process redesign and global implementation of SAP, Maximo and other technologies referred to as the E&P Backbone program. The goal of the Backbone program is to enhance E&P’s performance and competitiveness through major business transformation based on common processes and systems.

The Backbone project will drive increased agility, reduced risk of non-compliance, reduced cost and the ability to fully leverage the Company’s global scale and reach through standardisation of processes and systems. This will be enabled through the creation of governance, processes, measures, and IT systems that are required to deliver benefits to the business.

The scope of the Backbone solution includes: WM, Purchase-to-Pay (P2P) and Materials Management (MM) with linkage to financial processes (GFT). The implementation schedule for the North Sea has design in 2011, deployment in the UK in 2012 and deployment in Norway in 2013.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all assigned deliverables within the end to end WM process for the Region (Norway) - e.g. process definition, job role definition, input to training, testing etc.
  • Ensure thorough understanding of the WM design to facilitate the implementation of a common WM process across the North Sea Region.
  • With representatives from across the Region determine Regional requirements and input into the Global design assessing the local requirements against common process and advising on appropriate methods of delivery.
  • Raise issues/risks to project leads for resolution/mitigation to ensure that process design progress continues forward.
  • Collaborate and provide thought leadership into the detailed level 4 and level 5 processes ensuring that requirements around SOD, DOA, activity descriptions, existing policies, exception processing, required reports, process metrics, etc. are fully met.
  • Maintain and validate all associated documentation with the latest versions and audit trail of changes - e.g. Process maps, Functional specifications, Requirements traceability Matrix, related Policies, Procedures, Training Materials, KPI measurements etc.
  • Assist in the creation of functional requirement specifications.
  • Participate in system testing, prior to releases of product, to enable functional acceptance of the combined process & supporting tool.
  • Provide procedural functional descriptions to use in the creation of final training deliverables.
  • Assist in the development of metrics for measuring effectiveness of the WM process.
  • Work with business owners to implement the new processes.
  • Lead the work stream activities during the bubble support phase of the deployment through to sustain.

Start: January 2012 End: 31st December 2013,
with options for extension

Formal skills requirements:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent 5 years experience in a very similar role
  • Minimum 5 years recent Oil and Gas industry experience
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in related area of WM, covering a wide range of complex situations. Planning, Scheduling, WorkMate, Maintenance KPI’s and relationships to associated regulations
  • Experience and understanding of the business processes and policies as they relate to working practice, contractor management, supply chain and controls.
  • Excellent Team player in multi-dimensional and/or multi-cultural teams.
  • Proven track record of successful delivery.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

  • Experience in problem solving and work with complex and large amounts of detail.
  • Practical experience in all areas of an Operating Business Unit, both internally to the company and externally with Contractors.
  • Experience of ERP system implementation and the complexities in how policy and process is delivered within such an environment.
